Theatre Composer

Elliah is a 2020 Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellow for revisionist Western musical THE DEATH OF DESERT ROSE (book by Jessica Kahkoska, 2019 commission by SBR Productions). His first musical, the Dust Bowl-era folk romp Dust Can't Kill Me (dir. Srđa Vasiljević, chor. Jennifer Jancuska) was performed at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2014 (Overall Excellence Award for Best Music & Lyrics), the New York Musical Festival in 2016 (Best Music), and at Le Poisson Rouge to be recorded for The Score podcast series (prod. Michael Kimmel, Allison Bressi).

Elliah is writing an adaptation of the Canterbury Tales set at a modern music festival (We Are Pilgrims) with Vasiljevic, which has seen development at the ASTIR Lab Series in 2016 (created by Justin Nichols and Jancuska in collaboration with The BringAbout) and in residency at The Barn Arts Collective in 2017. He is also developing a new musical about the birth of rock ‘n’ roll, Wildwood, with Michael Kimmel, which had its premier in concert at 54 Below in 2018.


In 2017, Elliah participated in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project, studying with Craig Carnelia, Stephen Bray, and Lari White; in 2018, he spent two weeks at SPACE on Ryder Farm; and in 2020, he participated in the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat. Elliah studied at Yale with Jeanine Tesori and Michael Korie.
